Subteams: How We Operate

Each of our members are hand-picked from Texas A&M’s engineering programs. These members produce the three teams noted below. Each team uses a weekly or bi-weekly system of organization called sprints, this allows for a more productive and innovative organization. Every team has an essential role in the design process and continues to make Texas A&M SAE Aero Design a continuing success story.

Aerodynamics,

Stability, & Controls (ASC)

While applying theoretical and empirical principles to design the optimal airfoil and fuselage geometry, the ASC team uses various simulation software such as MATLAB, XFLR5, and STAR CCM+. The ASC team is also responsible for the configuration of all control systems for the aircraft, with the primary focus of delivering a very finely tuned aircraft in terms of stability.

Structures &

Material Science (SMS)

With an emphasis on the design and manufacturing of aircraft structures, the SMS team utilizes several programs such as SolidWorks Simulate and ANSYS to produce structural models with a specified factor of safety or FOS. On a daily basis the SMS team requires critical thinking and hands-on testing to create highly optimized aircraft structures.

Business Administration

Perform various management tasks including budgeting, fundraising, logistical support, and corporate/sponsor relations. The Business team works closely with Texas A&M’s financial resources. The Business team is also responsible for social media connections and maintaining our website.
